The City of Beaverton invites artists to submit images for the 2017 Beautify Beaverton project. The selected artwork will enhance Beaverton’s existing infrastructure by transforming utility and traffic signal boxes into artistic features throughout the city.
In partnership with Clean Slate Group, the Beaverton Arts Program is wrapping unsightly utility boxes in high-performance and graffiti-resistant vinyl printed with local, original artwork. Artists will have an opportunity to see their original work displayed publicly. To view examples of wraps from other cities, visit: http://cleanslategroup.org/.
Artists of selected designs will receive an artist stipend of $200 per selected design. More than one design may be selected per artist.
All green and grey utility boxes are located in highly visible, public spaces throughout the City of Beaverton. Once boxes are wrapped with artwork, their location will be added to the Arts Program’s Public Art Walking Map with credits made to the artist.
Examples of the utility boxes can be found here: http://apps.beavertonoregon.gov/arts/vinylwraps.aspx
